He earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He is the medical director of the cardio-oncology program The University of Kansas Cancer Center. Dr. Porter's clinical focus is on heart disease during cancer chemotherapy, especially during breast cancer treatment. His focus is on delivering state-of-the-art cardiac care tailored to match the individual patient. He has been involved in clinical research for new treatments for heart failure since the 1980s.
