Eric C Lai, MD

Dr. Eric Lai is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon specializing in the full spectrum of breast surgery, including breast reconstruction, breast reduction and cosmetic breast procedures. His expertise spans implant-based and autologous breast reconstruction utilizing advanced microsurgical techniques such as DIEP, PAP and DUG flaps. He has a particular interest in improving sensory outcomes through reinnervation techniques in both implant-based and autologous breast reconstruction. He also performs revision breast reconstruction and specializes in the surgical management of lymphedema, including immediate lymphatic reconstruction and lymphovenous bypass for the upper extremities.

Beyond reconstruction, Dr. Lai provides breast reduction surgery for patients seeking relief from the physical discomfort of macromastia and offers cosmetic breast procedures, including augmentation, mastopexy (breast lift),and aesthetic revision surgery. He aims to achieve natural, balanced and long-lasting results tailored to each patient’s unique needs.

Dr. Lai earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College in 2005 and completed his general surgery residency at the University of Buffalo in 2011. He then pursued plastic surgery training at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio, followed by a fellowship in microvascular surgery at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Since 2015, he has been dedicated to providing state-of-the-art care at The University of Kansas Health System.
