Jason A Sokol, MD

Dr. Jason Sokol is a fellow of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) – Oculofacial Plastics.

Dr. Sokol’s practice focuses on orbitofacial trauma, orbital tumors, orbital surgery, thyroid orbitopathy, functional eyelid disorders, MOHS reconstruction, enucleation/evisceration, anophthalmic socket rehabilitation and lacrimal outflow disorders. His training includes oculofacial plastic surgery, Asian blepharoplasty and reconstructive surgery.

Born and raised in New York, Dr. Sokol received a BA in history from Columbia University and a BA in Talmud (Jewish law) from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America in New York City. After graduating from Mount Sinai School of Medicine with distinction in research, he completed his ophthalmology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he received an award for academic achievement. He has also finished a prestigious 2-year fellowship at the University of Louisville in oculofacial plastic and orbital surgery under the tutelage of Dr. William R. Nunery.

He is a professor at the University of Kansas Medical Center and was recently named the Luther L. and Ardis Fry Professor and chair of ophthalmology. He was also recognized as Teaching Faculty Member of the Year twice by residents and received the Visionary Award from the school of medicine. In addition, Dr. Sokol’s position on the health system’s ophthalmology team provided him the opportunity to be part of the care team for the 2020 Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs.

Dr. Sokol has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at many national meetings. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Eva Jenny; daughters, Ruby and Madeline; and son, Samson. He also enjoys traveling, watching movies, and playing and watching sports.
