Jay C Shiao, MD, MPH

Dr. Jay Shiao, a radiation oncologist, believes that the best care starts with building strong relationships with patients and understanding their personalized needs, as cancer diagnoses can be overwhelming and complex. He prides himself on his empathy and optimism as demonstrated by his nomination in the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He is passionate about providing patient-centered, multidisciplinary oncology care using state-of-the-art treatment techniques. His areas of interest include the treatment of a variety of cancers, including genitourinary, gynecologic and gastrointestinal malignancies and palliative radiation therapy. He has extensive experience in brachytherapy for cervical, endometrial and prostate cancer.

Dr. Shiao joined The University of Kansas Cancer Center as an assistant professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology. He graduated from the University of Texas San Antonio medical school, followed by residency in radiation oncology at the University of Colorado, where he served as chief resident in 2022. He chose to get additional training in brachytherapy at the University of California Los Angeles.

In his free time, Dr. Shiao enjoys spending time outdoors with his partner and cuddling his two cats.
