Joshua A. Broghammer, MD, FACS, is an associate professor of urology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Dr. Broghammer earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Iowa. He then completed his urology residency at Wayne State University at Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan. Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Kansas Medical Center, he completed a fellowship in trauma and genitourinary reconstructive surgery at the University of Washingtonís Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Dr. Broghammer is a member of the American Urological Association (AUA) and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). He has taken an active role in leadership positions, having completed his chair position for the Resident and Associate Society of ACS.
Dr. Broghammer has published several peer-reviewed articles on urologic trauma and is currently actively involved in research. He has completed numerous presentations at regional and national levels in urologic trauma and genital reconstructive surgery. He is also a contributing author to the AUA core curriculum project, which provides educational material to practicing urologists and trainees. As a founding member of the Trauma and Urologic Reconstructive Network, Dr. Broghammer is participating in leading-edge, collaborative research with multiple hospitals across the country to help improve patient care.
Dr. Broghammer specializes in the treatment of injuries related to trauma, including urethral stricture disease, renal injuries, ureteral strictures, genital injuries and bladder injuries. He performs prosthetic surgery for prostate cancer-related complications, including penile prosthesis for erectile dysfunction, artificial urinary sphincter (AUS) and male sling for incontinence. He also performs surgical correction of Peyronieís disease and treatment of buried penis.
