About Julia R White

Dr. Julia White is an internationally renowned breast cancer radiation oncologist and a professor of radiation oncology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She also serves as vice chair of clinical operations for radiation oncology at The University of Kansas Cancer Center. She is board-certified in radiation oncology and a recognized expert in the treatment of breast cancer.

Dr. White’s research focuses on developing and implementing new technologies and tools ̶ such as prone, conformal, partial breast and image-guided therapies ̶ that deliver a more precise dosage of radiation without harming healthy tissue or organs. Her leadership on numerous national clinical trials for local and regional breast cancer management has influenced the standards of breast cancer care.

Prior to joining the cancer center, Dr. White was professor and vice chair for clinical research and director of breast radiation in the department of radiation oncology, as well as breast cancer disease site research group leader, for The James Comprehensive Cancer Center at The Ohio State University.

Dr. White is vice chair for the NRG Oncology Breast Cancer Committee and a member of the National Cancer Institute’s Breast Cancer Steering Committee. She is on the committee for the American Society of Clinical Oncology Conquer Cancer Foundation and the ASCO Education Committee. She serves as section editor for the American Society for Radiation Oncology journal, Practical Radiation Oncology. She is also the principal investigator on the NRG BR007 DEBRA Phase III clinical trial that is accruing more than 1,600 women across North America. The study is evaluating omission of radiation for breast conservation in hormone-sensitive, low-risk patients who intend endocrine therapy.
