Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has significant experience in several diverse clinical and research settings, both in the United States and abroad. His areas of focus are acute leukemia, myeloid diseases, multiple myeloma, bone marrow transplantation and CAR T, and novel cellular therapies. He also serves as an assistant professor of hematologic malignancies and cellular therapeutics at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Dr. Mushtaq completed a fellowship in hematology and oncology at University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics. He earned his medical degree from Allama Iqbal Medical College and completed his residency at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago.
In his early career, he conducted public health research as an independent investigator addressing several challenging issues. He completed a rigorous internal medicine residency at Cook County Hospital in 2017 and a hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2020. He is an astute clinician and has a long history of research productivity during busy clinical years. Dr. Mushtaq is leading investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored clinical trials. He has established a clinical research laboratory and has mentored over a hundred students and residents. He has been prolific in publishing and presenting at national and international meetings. He has published more than 40 peer-reviewed manuscripts and presented more than 100 abstracts at national conferences.
Dr. Mushtaq received the 2021 Robert Korngold Award for the Best Clinical Science in Cellular Therapy article and the 2023 Karl and Irene Eisemann Award for Hematologic Malignancies and Cellular Therapeutics, in recognition of exceptional research.
